Hej Jeppe,
First of all thank you for having this site, it is great!!
I am writing you because this beauty landed by casuality in my hands. Actually, I saved the guitar from the trash, they were gonna throw it out!! The guitar belonged to the grandmother of the young lady that was gonna throw it out. So it can easily be from 1950.
Someone told me that it looks like a Single Jensen (Hans Frederik Jensen) guitar, actually, they were pretty certain of it, but I will like to hear your opinion.
I know it is not much just with the pictures but hopefully you can see if it is something interesting or not.
Is it possible for you to make an estimate of the value?
På forhånd, tusind tak!
Hello there and thanks for your kind words in regards to my website.
What a great find !
Its not a single Jensen, even though its has some similarities. Its an old 60s Höfner model 462/S acoustic archtop gutiar with “cateyes” F holes. These are actually quite rare and yours seem ti be in a good condition. These are heavly inspired by the more famous epiphione regent models made in the 50s.
Your 462/5 is missing the pickguard, truss-rod cover and will properly need a need good set-up. You should differently consider spending some money on it as it will only increase in value.
As the is one of Höfner´s higher end models you should be able to get somewhere around 5000 to 6000 danish kroners with a replica pickguard and truss rod cover. In its current state properly around 3000 to 4000 depending of where and to whom you are selling.
Let me know it goes.
All the best
